Back to School Updates

We are so excited to welcome everyone for the 1st day of the new school year on Tuesday, August 31st. The school day remains the same — 8:30 am – 3:00 pm. As the first day of school approaches, there are a few important updates:

  • Paperwork
    • We are continuing to work to avoid paper forms and also to ensure we have up to date contact information. Please complete this Student Profile at your earliest convenience. 
  • COVID-19 Mask Guidelines
    • As always, we are closely monitoring all public health and Department of Elementary and Secondary Education guidance regarding COVID protocols. At this time, the guidance for high schools states:
      • Unvaccinated staff, students and visitors are strongly recommended to wear masks indoors.
      • DESE and DPH recommend that schools allow vaccinated high school students and staff to remain unmasked.
      • Any student, staff or visitor who prefers to wear a mask at school, regardless of vaccination status, should be supported in this choice.
      • By public health orders, all students and staff are required to wear masks on school buses and in health offices.
  • COVID-19 Vaccinations
    • Map Academy encourages our school community to be vaccinated. In order to support our school community in accessing the COVID-19 vaccine, we have arranged for an onsite vaccination clinic  weekly at Map Academy on Thursdays from 10:30 am – noon. Students are encouraged to pre-register via the link here.
    • All students who participate in the onsite vaccination clinic and those who provide a copy of their COVID vaccination card to Nurse Heather will receive a $10 Amazon gift card. 
  • COVID-19 Testing
    • Map Academy has been approved to continue offering a range of COVID testing options onsite. We will continue to have rapid BINAX-Now tests available for symptomatic students and staff and those who have been close contacts. We will also continue with optional (but highly encouraged) weekly pooled COVID safety testing as we did last school year. 
  • New Student Orientation
    • We are thrilled to have many new students joining our community. As a reminder for these students, attendance is required at New Student Orientation on Thursday, August 26th from 10 am – 2 pm.
    • New students who would like to receive a vaccination while onsite for orientation are encouraged to register at the link above.
  • Summer Graduation
    • We are excited to honor another group of Map Academy graduates on Wednesday, August 25th at 4 pm. The ceremony will be held at Map Academy.
  • Bus Stops
    • The Gatra bus route through Wareham and Carver has not changed. Details can be found here.
    • Bus stops for students who live in Plymouth will be available soon and will be posted on our website and shared via email as soon as we receive them. 
  • School Calendar
    • The 2020-2021 School Calendar is attached for your convenience and can be found here.
  • Evening Studio
    • Optional Drop In Evening Studio will continue this fall and will begin on Monday, September 13th. Evening Studio will be offered Monday through Thursday from 4:00 – 6:30 pm.
