The End of Average: Video echoes why Map Academy is designed to do high school differently

Powerful interview with Todd Rose, director of the Mind, Brain and Education center at Harvard, who himself failed out of high school, echoes the reasons we have designed Map Academy to do high school differently.

“It is unacceptable to design learning environments assuming most kids are like an average kid…There actually isn’t such a person…You design textbooks and curricular materials and assessments that actually fit nobody at all. Kids muddle through and we reward the ones that muddle through the best, with better grades.  All the while thinking we’re nurturing their potential. And we’re not.”
